HOW IT ALL STARTED

(3-Dimentional Artwork for outside public exhibits)

One of the most amazing experiences in my life was discovering how challenging and consequently interesting painting on uneven 3-dimentional surfaces could be. It was a pure chance that one day my mother's friend mentioned to me that CowParade is looking for local artists to paint cows for an upcoming event in West Hartford, CT. I went on CowParade's web site right away only to find out that the deadline the very next day. I was unsure if I could come up with something in such a short time, but later in the evening I decided to try it anyway.

I came up with the concept for a painted cow and submitted it the next morning. A few hours later I found out that my proposal was accepted. I was a bit nervous, since I've never painted cows before and didn't know how to go about it. I didn't even know where I could possibly paint it. My living room? Thankfully the stars were aligned in my favor and my mother was gracious enough to lend me space in her tailoring shop.

I ended up painting my cow enclosed by store windows right in the center of West Hartford, which allowed passers-by to observe my work-in-progress on daily basis. At first I felt a bit uncomfortable, because I felt like a fish in a fish tank. However, that feeling quickly passed and I began enjoying the situation. I especially loved interacting with the kids who stopped by on regular basis and asked me the most adorable questions. I found the whole experience so gratifying that since then I've never missed a chance to work on another project that allows me such close interaction with the local public.
