All about Mister Bond
(Natasha's chinchilla who is not quite a British spy, but still totally awesome)
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
Anatole France
"Lots of people talk to animals.... Not very many listen, though.... That's the problem."
Benjamin Hoff
"Every time I hold you I begin to understand, that everything about you tells me you're my best friend."

"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed"
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Mister Bond was a present from a friend, although I did pick him out. We came to a pet store and I saw a bunch of little chinchillas playing together in an aquarium. One of them laid motionless in a corner. I thought it was sick or dead. I tapped the glass and the little thing moved. I asked the store clerk for that particular chinchilla.
Mr. Bond remains an adorable lazy bastard that sleeps on his side (which is not all that normal for chinchillas). He passed that trait to his son Beastie. Bond is extremely friendly and I love him to death. He’s a little wonderful weirdo and the only chinchilla that I know of that wags his tale. He learned it from my dog Molson who used to come up to his cage and wag her own tale to show him how much she likes him. So now when Mister Bond wants something or wants to show his appreciation he moves his tale from side to side. It’s absolutely hysterical. Mr. Bond is extremely friendly towards strangers and he lets everybody hold him. I think if he were a person he’d be one of those friendly pot-smoking hippies. One knows that their lifestyle is not very productive, but because of their friendliness you can’t help, but to love them.
Mr. Bond is a very good father. On the morning when Biaka gave birth to the babies he paced around his cage like any new father would. Then she came up to him and started making sounds, as if explaining to him how the delivery went. He was standing on his hint legs listening carefully and occasionally saying something that sounded like 'words' of encouragement. When the time came and I had to separate boys and girls into different cages he took care of his son Beastie with such love and tenderness that it would've made any chinchilla mother jealous...
