I named Tihon after my great-grandfather whom I’ve never met. Tihon and I are inseparable. I’ve never gotten as much attention from anybody as I do from him. He follows me around and takes good care of me. A staunch proponent of exfoliation he washes my face and my limbs every day with his sand-paper-like tongue and gets mad if I try to get away before he’s done. I’m his baby and he’s mine.
I got him when he was about 6 weeks old. It was a compulsive decision, but it was one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made. It was fate. I found an ad on Craig’s list from a woman who found four kittens under her parked van and wanted to find a good home for them. She mentioned that one of the kittens was gray. I knew right away that I had to take that particular kitten. I was at her house a few hours later. She held him in her palm. He was upside down on his back, while the woman was scratching his belly. He still likes to have his belly scratched. He chills in my lap for hours, laying on his back and holding my hand in his paws. He presses my hand to his face and purrs. When I hold him he looks into my eyes and licks my face. I miss him like crazy when I’m away, although I know that as soon as I come home he’ll always be at the door to greet me.

Tihon also makes sure to greet me as soon as I wake up. The first thing I see in the morning is his adorable face. I still don’t know how he figures out when would be the exact moment of my awaking… So far he only missed it once. As soon as I got out of bed I heard his bell getting louder and louder as he was running towards me from the kitchen. When he finally ran into the bedroom the poor thing looked confused and disappointed… I suspect that he believes that being in front of my face when I wake up is his most important duty as a pet.
Tihon also thinks of himself as a handy-man. I call him QCC or Quality Control Cat. He checks on my work whenever I'm doing something around the house. He walks around me with a critical look on his face as if he's trying to tell me that whatever I'm doing is not up to his standards. Tihon is amazingly smart and knows how to open all the doors. Since he is insanely long he actually manages to stretch himself from the floor to almost any door handle. The good thing is that he's not strong enough to open exterior doors. Otherwise I would be seriously worried.
