All about Butler Didit

(Natasha's chinchilla great-granddaughter)

"Animals are God's creatures, not human property, nor utilities, nor resources, nor commodities, but precious beings in God's sight…"
Reverend Andrew Linzey

"They too, are created by the same loving hand of God which Created us...It is our duty to Protect Them and to promote their well-being."
Mother Teresa

"Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled."
Fyodor Dostoyevsky

"It's kind of fun being the cute, little one. In fact, I'm finding it hard to grow out of that."
Katie Holmes

Butler is the cutest little thing on the planet. She is not a baby anymore, but she keeps on making the same sounds as she did when she was born. Just as her mother she tends to worry for no reason and she makes sure to voice her complaints. She still cries like a little girl when she gets upset and sounds like an annoying alarm clock when she is unhappy. In her childhood she used to terrorize me with her crying. On numerous occasions I had to wake up in the middle of the night to calm her down. Sometimes she still cries at night and I still can’t figure out why. I just hope that she doesn’t have any bad dreams.

Photo of Natasha's Chinchilla Butler next to her cat TihonEven though Butler is a bit of a cry-baby, her overall personality reminds me more of her grandmother Boo, as opposed to her whiny mother Biaka. Seemingly indifferent, in actuality Butler is curious and defiant. She’s also very sneaky and one wouldn’t expect her to cause any trouble, but she does. However, she knows how to cover up her tracks rather well.

Butler is absolutely gorgeous with amazing violet-gray fur and huge feminine (almost almond-shaped) eyes. She doesn't look like anybody in her family and if I didn't know any better I would think that there is no way she could be her parents' daughter. Another thing that distinguishes her from the rest of my chinchillas is her lack of interest in raisins. While the rest of her family are total raising junkies, Butler often passes on the opportunity to enjoy the treat that the rest of the chinchillas all over the world can never get enough of. When she does take a raisin she eats it exactly like her father Mister Bond. She holds it in her paws and eats very slowly, unlike her mother and brother who just seem to swallow their treats.

Sometimes Butler is suspicious of people just like her mother is, but since she is extremely curious her caution goes away whenever she starts exploring her surroundings. I try my best to make her happy and although our relationship is far from perfect she trusts me more and more with each day. I know that one day we’ll be great friends, just as I was with her grandmother. I know that because I see in her eyes the same thing I saw in Boo’s – mischievous curiosity, strength and a desire to be a part of everything around her.
