"Everywhere around the world
They're coming to America
Everytime that flags unfurled
They're coming to America
Got a dream to take them there
They're coming to America
Got a dream they come to share
They're coming to America
They're coming to America"
Neil Diamond
"America is a vast conspiracy to make you happy."
John Updike
"America is successful because of the hard work and creativity and enterprise of our people."
George W. Bush
My Americana jewelry box is a perfect example of something that anybody can easily create at home. I bought an unfinished wood box in a crafts store for $.99. Then I covered it with white acrylic paint and once it dried I glazed the indented areas with pink acrylic. Later I painted an American flag on the top and on the front of the box and added red & blue stars on its sides. To give the box antiqued look I used Mahogany wood finish that I rubbed with a cotton ball all over the surface adding a bit more to the corner areas and edges.
Overall project time: 1 hour, (including the drying time).
Acrylic paint: $3
Box: $.99
Sense of accomplishment: PRICELESS!
