The joy of shopping
(watercolor illustration on paper, 2006)
"When women are depressed, they eat or go shopping. Men invade another country. It's a whole different way of thinking."
Elayne Boosler
"Shopping is better than sex. If you're not satisfied after shopping you can make an exchange for something you really like."
Adrienne Gusoff
"I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist."
Tammy Faye Bakker
"George Washington had a vision for this country. Was it three days of uninterrupted shopping?"
Jeff Melvoin
I'm a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to shopping. I always say that I don't like shopping and to my credit I don't go that often, however once I'm inside a store I behave like a four-year-old on a Christmas morning.
Up until a few years ago I viewed shopping as a necessary evil as opposed to something that could bring joy into a woman's life. For the longest time my mother, a self-professed shopaholic and the most elegant woman that I know, kept on wondering how she could've given birth to a daughter like me.
However, no matter how far an apple falls from a tree it still has potential to grow into an apple tree and I'm beginning to suspect that I'm slowly growing into a tree that likes shopping. So I guess if Barbara Walters were to ask me "If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?" I'd have my answer ready.
